Washington, PA - Despite its struggles this season, the Geneva College men′s basketball team has seen one of its bright spots as its ability to knock down long distance jump shots. On Wednesday night, that long distance shooting eluded the Golden Tornadoes in a 70-65 loss to Washington & Jefferson College. The loss was Geneva′s seventh straight as the Golden Tornadoes fell to 1-15 overall and 1-7 in the PAC. The Golden Tornadoes were also looking for their first victory on the road this season but fell to 0-10 away from College Hill.

Geneva finished the night shooting just 4-27 from three point range (15%). Despite those shooting woes, the Golden Tornadoes found themselves in a dog fight for most of the game. Geneva trailed by four points at the half 32-28 but rallied back to tie the game at 39-39 on a Zac Rorick three-point field goal with 13:54 left in the second half. W & J scored the next four points and would never again relinquish the lead. From the time the game was tied at 39, the Presidents rolled out a 12-5 run to open up a seven point lead and never look back.

Geneva finished the night shooting 33% from the field while W & J posted a mark of 41%. Matt Lorello led the Golden Tornadoes with 19 points on 7-11 shooting from the field and 5-6 from the line. Jordan Harbison scored 16 points but went just 3-14 from three-point range. The Presidents′ Zach Bellhy led all scorers with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

The Golden Tornadoes happily return to Metheny Fieldhouse to attempt to put an end to the seven-game slide on Saturday afternoon. Geneva welcomes Thiel College to Metheny Fieldhouse for a 3 pm tip-off. Geneva will then host Bethany College next Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
