Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva College women′s basketball was in search of its first conference victory of the season but Thiel had other ideas. On the strength of an offense that featured 11 three-point field goals and with a 21 rebounding edge, Thiel held off Geneva 64-52. The loss dropped Geneva to 2-15 overall and 0-10 in league play. Meanwhile, the Tomcats have won two straight in the PAC and moved to 4-13 overall and 3-7 in the league.

Thiel′s Kelly Muffley and Geneva′s Heidi Mann were going nearly shot for shot in the first half as Mann finished with 13 in the half and Muffley posted 17 in the first stanza. Thiel took a 33-28 lead into the halftime break with Thiel shooting 7-11 from outside the arc in the first half and Geneva posted a 4-7 mark from long distance.

A Heidi Mann three-pointer early in the second half cut the Thiel lead to three points at 35-32 but that would be as close as Geneva would get the rest of the game. Thiel finished the game with its biggest lead of the game at 12 points.

Mann led Geneva with 18 points on 7-15 from the field while Samantha Fisher finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Muffley led all scorers with 25 points including 7-11 from three-point range. Kelly Barzak posted a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds.

Geneva will host Bethany on Wednesday night before welcoming Chatham to Metheny Fieldhouse next Saturday afternoon at 2 pm.
