Geneva College pride can be found worldwide, as evidenced by the popularity of the Traveling Tornado Towel program. Since the start of theTraveling_Towel_Color.jpg program in 2010, Geneva alumni have been tucking Tornado Towels in suitcases and snapping photos of themselves at vacation destinations across the globe. The towel has been to six continents, and even made its way to the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

In 2011, Charles “Mick” Jones, chief of the Beaver Falls Police Department, was selected by the Pittsburgh FBI Field Office to attend the FBI National Academy, which is a professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement leaders. Jones graduated from Geneva′s Adult Degree Completion Program (ADCP) in 2008 and the Towel_FBI.jpgMaster of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) program in 2011.

“I decided to take my towel to my training because I enjoyed seeing the other pictures and stories about the Traveling Tornado Towel,” said Jones. “I also wanted to show my school pride because I believe my education at Geneva was an important part of my application and selection for the FBI National Academy.”

The Tornado Towel has also been to such locations as the Sea of Galilee in Israel; the Taj Mahal in India; the Sahara Desert in Egypt; and Nagasaki, Japan.  The Alumni Office is still patiently waiting for a photo of the towel in Antarctica, the only continent that the towel has missed so far.

To view the Traveling Tornado Towel webpage and see the photos, visit www.geneva.edu/tornado_towel .

Travelling Tornado Towels are free to Geneva alumni. Towels can be requested by alumni online here.
