Beaver Falls, PA - For the first seven minutes of the first half and the first eight minutes of the second half, the Geneva College women′s basketball team couldn′t find the basket. During those stretches, Saint Vincent ran off 13 straight to open the game and 17 straight to open the second half. Those two lengthy runs proved to be the difference in a 79-42 decision at Geneva′s Metheny Field house.

Geneva missed its first nine shots of the game and shot just 24% from the field in the first half. Saint Vincent didn′t set the nets on fire in the first stanza as Geneva held the Bearcats to just 34% from the field. After falling behind 13-0 to start the game, the Golden Tornadoes out scored Saint Vincent 24-20 in the final 13 minutes before the break. Just as Geneva was gaining momentum, the offense stopped again to open the second half. Saint Vincent opened the half by scoring the first 17 points and ultimately putting the game away.

Geneva made just five field goals in the second half as Saint Vincent out scored Geneva 46-18 in the final 20 minutes. Saint Vincent was 8-15 from the three-point line in the second half and finished the game with 11 treys.

The Golden Tornadoes did not have any players in double figures but did get scoring from seven different players with Samantha Fisher and Chelsea Kauffman each finishing the night with eight points. Fisher also led the way with nine rebounds. Tayler Mathers led Saint Vincent with 12 points as Devin McGrath posted a double-double with ten points and 16 rebounds.

Geneva will play its final road game of the season on Saturday when it travels to Grove City for a 1 pm tip-off. The Golden Tornadoes close out the regular season next week with home games against Washington & Jefferson and Westminster.
