Geneva Drops 20th at Grove City

Grove City, PA - The Geneva College women′s basketball team couldn′t get its offense on track on Saturday and dropped a 55-39 decision to Grove City College. The loss dropped Geneva′s overall record to 3-20 and marked the first time in school history that the Golden Tornadoes have suffered back to back 20-loss seasons. Geneva fell to 1-15 in the PAC while Grove City improved to 8-12 overall and 7-9 in league play.

The Golden Tornadoes struggled to find the basket in the first half with only six field goals including 0-5 from three-point range. The Golden Tornadoes trailed Grove City 25-15 at the break and were looking to turn things around in the final 20 minutes.

The offense did generate four three-point field goals in the second half but only shot 26% from the field. Grove City was not much better from the field but did outscore Geneva 30-24 in the second half. Geneva was never able to cut the lead into single digits and never led in the game.

One of Geneva′s bright spots on the day was a career best 15 points from Bri Cowden. Cowen connected on a pair of three-point field goals while Leah Prisuta added a pair from long distance and finished with ten points. Leah Gibson was Grove City′s only player to reach double figures with 12 points in the victory.

Geneva finishes the regular season winless on the road in 12 tries away from Metheny Fieldhouse. The Golden Tornadoes were officially eliminated from post-season play with the loss and will close out the regular season with a pair of home games next week. Geneva will host Washington & Jefferson at 5:30 pm on Wednesday and will welcome Westminster to College Hill next Saturday night at 5:30 pm.
