Berea, OH - The Geneva College men′s and women′s track and field team competed at Baldwin-Wallace for the final indoor tune up before the PAC indoor championships next weekend. Nick Edinger stepped out of his comfort zone to compete in the 3000 meter event and left all of his opponents in the dust.

Edinger, who is most comfortable in the 5000 meter event, certainly seemed far from uncomfortable as he won the 3000 meter race by nearly 20 seconds from the next closest competitor. Edinger finished the race with a time of 8:50.72 in what seemed like a stroll in the park.

In another highlight for the men′s team, Ryan White finished seventh in the finals of the 55 meter event. White posted a time of 6.90 in the finals after a 6.47 qualifying time in the preliminary round. A pair of Geneva men posted 11th place finishes including Mark Filtz in the triple jump and Chez Anderson in the 500 meter race.

In women′s action, Sarah-Noel Meek also tried something new on Saturday with performances in the 800 meter race and as a member of Geneva′s 4 x 400 meter relay team. Meek, who is an NCCAA national qualifier in the 5000 and 3000 meter event, posted a 12th place finish in the 800 meter race and was sixth in the relay event along with teammates Anna Kluitenberg, Emily Stone and Alayna Merkle. Merkle did turn in the women′s highlight of the day with a sixth place finish in the one mile run with a time of 5:28. Meek also competed in the one mile event with a ninth place overall finish.

The Golden Tornadoes will now turn their attention to the PAC indoor meet coming up next Friday and Saturday.
