Beaver Falls, PA - Coaches always say that they want their teams playing their best at the end of the season. Geneva College men′s basketball Jeff Santarsiero may be getting his wish. After struggling through most of the season, the Golden Tornadoes won for the second straight time in three days by dispatching Washington & Jefferson 64-59 at Metheny Fieldhouse on Wednesday night. The victory pushed Geneva′s overall record to 4-20 including a 3-12 mark in the PAC. Meanwhile, W & J fell to 8-17 overall and 6-10 in league play.

Geneva and W & J shot an identical 9-26 from the field in the first half but the Presidents knocked down a couple more treys and took a 25-22 lead into the break. Geneva opened the second half with eight straight points to grab a 30-25 lead before W & J battled back yet again. With seven lead changes and five ties, the game remained close throughout the second half. Jordan Harbison knocked down a pair of free throws at the 2:56 mark to tie the game at 55-55. Geneva then scored the next five points to open up another five point lead. With less than a minute, W & J cut the lead to one but free throws from Harbison and Keynon Jackson down the stretch iced the game away for Geneva.

Matt Lorello led the scoring with 23 points as teammates Jordan Harbison and Keynon Jackson each added ten points in the victory. Zach Bellhy led W & J with 23 points on the night.

The Geneva victory paired with a Westminster loss on Wednesday night puts the two rivals head to head in the eighth spot of the PAC standings with identical 3-12 records. The two teams will meet on Saturday night to determine the host for Monday night′s PAC tournament play-in game with the winner advancing to play the number one seed on Tuesday night. Geneva and Westminster will meet at Metheny Fieldhouse on Saturday night at 7:30 pm with seniors Matt Lorello, DJ Damazo and Keynon Jackson being honored before the game.
