Beaver Falls, PA - Throughout the indoor season in 2013, it has been the Geneva College distance duo of Nick Edinger and Sarah-Noel Meek that have shined. Edinger was kept out of Friday′s NCCAA national track and field meet for precautionary reasons, which left the freshman to pick up the slack for the women′s team. Meek did more than pick up the slack as she once again etched her name into the Geneva College record book with a memorable performance in the women′s 5K race.

Meek brought home a fifth place finish in the 5K with a school record time of 18:41. Teammates Anna Kluitenberg (19) and Emily Hoobler (21) also competed for Geneva in the 5K finals. While Meek was busy making Geneva history on day one of the NCCAA national indoor meet, the day didn′t turn out quite so well for the Geneva sprinters.

"Sarah was so impressive today," said head coach Brian Yowler. "She is an amazing talent and held her own against some of the best in the country. Unfortunately, we didn′t get those same results in our sprinting events, which we were very hopeful would bring some quality results." Geneva′s Josh Guiser (32) and Ryan White (39) represented Geneva in the 60 meter preliminaries but were unable to advance to the final heat.

Geneva will have some additional representatives on stage in day two of competition with Meek heading back to the track for the 3K event on Saturday.
