Kissimmee, FL - It hasn′t exactly been an offensive explosion for the Geneva College softball team two days into the 2013 season. After dropping a pair of games to start the season on Monday, the Golden Tornadoes dropped an 8-4 decision to Muskingum to start the day on Tuesday. Geneva finally got its offense on track with a 12-3 victory in the night cap over Presentation College.

Geneva has given up at least one run in the first inning of all four games this year. Game one was no different as Muskingum jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. After extending the lead to 4-0 in the fifth, the Golden Tornadoes finally got on the board with a three-spot in the bottom of the fifth. Christina Fuqua and Ashley Davis each had RBI singles but Geneva could not capitalize any more after loading the bases with just one out. Muskingum came right back and scored four runs in the top of the sixth to put the game away. Geneva′s fourth run came on a seventh inning RBI triple from Mackenzie Kemerer.

Andi Hinds took the ball for Geneva in the night cap and picked up the victory with five solid innings of work and allowing just three earned runs. The offense finally showed up with 14 hits including a 3-4 effort from Dayna Hicks. Hicks, who was also 3-4 in game one, scored four runs and swiped six stolen bases on the day. Fuqua drove in four runs in game two and picked up three hits on the way. Ashley Davis also had a pair of hits while freshmen Elyssa Simko and Melissa Reeder each collected their first collegiate hits.

Geneva will get back to work on Wednesday with games against Catholic University and Illinois College.
