Beaver Falls, PA - Stepping into some large shoes to fill in 2013, Samantha Johnson (Franklin Regional H.S.) is in her freshman season at Geneva College. Johnson is attempting to replace a graduated Julie DiLonardo, who basically set every single season and career pitching record at Geneva College a year ago. During the past couple of weeks, Johnson has been doing her best DiLonardo impersonation as she was nearly unhittable last week for the Golden Tornadoes. As a result, Johnson was named the Presidents′ Athletic Conference pitcher of the week.

In four appearances last week, Johnson went 4-0 with a 0.28 ERA. She allowed just one earned run in 25 innings of work. Striking out 15 batters along the way, Johnson helped lead Geneva to a perfect 6-0 start in conference play while riding an eight-game winning streak.

Johnson posted a shut-out victory over 2012 regular season champion Saint Vincent to start the week before victories over Waynesburg and Grove City in three starts. In game two at Grove City, Johnson earned the victory in relief with four innings of hitless work. For the season, Johnson is 8-4 with a 2.28 ERA. At the plate, Johnson hit .388 for the week with four RBI′s and is hitting at a .318 mark for the season.

Geneva will host Bethany and Thiel in PAC action this week with a non-conference doubleheader at Penn State Behrend sandwiched in between.
