New Wilmington, PA - With some of Geneva′s top distance runners heading to a separate meet on Saturday, it was up to the throwers to carry the load for the Golden Tornadoes′ track and field team. It was the likes of Katherine Michalak, Sara Williams and Kayla Jackson on the women′s side. For the men, Jordan Rupert and Tyler French took center stage.

In women′s action, Michalak, Williams and Jackson all finished in the top ten in the shot put with Michalak taking third place with a distance of 10.98 meters. Jackson was far from finished as she also placed in the top ten in the discus (9th) and javelin (3rd). On the track, Sarah-Noel Meek and Anna Kluitenburg finished sixth and seventh respectively in the 5000 meter race.

In men′s competition, Tyler French turned in a pair of ten performances. After finishing eighth in the shot put, French posted a third place finish in the discus. Teammate Jordan Rupert turned in a fifth place finish in the javelin. In the sprint events, Josh Guiser had a solid day with a second place finish in the 100 meter race and a fifth place finish in the 200 meter event.

Geneva′s track team will host a home event this Thursday with several other teams from the Presidents′ Athletic Conference invading College Hill. The PAC Championships at Washington & Jefferson are scheduled for April 26-27.
