Beaver Falls, PA - It now appears that game two of Saturday′s game two loss to Thiel was a precursor of things to come for the Geneva College softball team. The offense, which was clicking on all cylinders during a recent nine-game winning streak, has gone into shut-down mode. On Monday, the Golden Tornadoes dropped a doubleheader to Baldwin Wallace by scores of 7-2 and 5-2 and Geneva managed a combined three hits in the two games. The losses dropped Geneva′s overall record to 13-11 including a 7-1 mark in conference play.

Game one started as a pitcher′s duel with neither team denting the scoreboard through the first three innings. B-W finally broke through with a pair of runs in the fourth and broke things open with a five spot in the sixth inning. Geneva′s only hit came on a two-run single off of the bat of Dana Schnitzel in game one. Samantha Johnson saw her personal seven game winning streak come to an end with a loss.

Game two was more of the same as Geneva managed just two hits. B-W scored first in the third inning and added three more runs in the fifth. Geneva was 0-9 with runners in scoring position through the first four innings. Finally breaking through in the fifth, Geneva got a run on a bases loaded walk to Leah Prisuta and scored another run on an infield single from Lori Deem. Andrea Hinds was handed the loss after 5.1 innings of work and allowing four earned runs.

Geneva gets back into conference play on Tuesday at Bethany. The Golden Tornadoes and Bison need to complete game one which has the scored tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning. The two teams will then play game two of the doubleheader.
