Beaver Falls, PA - Thursday afternoon a campus filled with excitement in the air joined by sunny skies as Geneva hosted the Quad North Track and Field meet. Grove City, Westminster and Thiel College all came out for the afternoon′s competition. Both Geneva men and women took advantage of the home meet breaking some of Geneva′s own records in the mist of breaking a handful of personal records.

In men′s action, excitement turned into victory cheers as the afternoon progressed. On the track Geneva′s 4x100 meter ‘A′ team made up of Ryan White, Aaron Marga, Ed Schuster and Josh Guiser broke the 2005 school record with a time of 42.85 seconds. Later in the day, Guiser repeated his first place performance in the 100 meter dash with teammates Stephen Polite, Aaron Marga and Ed Schuster right behind him. In the 400 meter dash, Jacob Mellinger (49.95) and Ryan White (51.90) finished in the top two slots. Mellinger′s time slashed his previous personal record as the win was the first time he finished under the 50 second mark. Nate Mansor qualified for the NCCAA meet in steeplechase with a time of 10:19.73. Edinger finished his last home meet at Geneva with two first place wins. Edinger ran the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:12.93 and the 800 meter run in 2:01.95.

In the field, Tyler French threw for the top finish in Discus at 128-08 and second in shot put with a throw of 43-06.00. In Javelin, Jordan Rupert threw 165-00 good for the second place finish. Breaking personal records, Mike Slafka qualified for NCCAA meet in Pole Vault and Tanner Weekley broke his personal records in both shot put and discus. Overall the Geneva men finished ranking second with a team total of 168 points.

In women′s action on the track, Jamie Mahan broke her personal record in both the 100 meter and 200 meter events. On the field, Kayla Jackson broke her personal record in discus and Lydia Steele qualified for the NCCAA meet in javelin. Katherine Michalak also had a big day as she broke her personal record in shot put with a throw of 40-07.50 that was also the school record she obtained last season. Michalak ended the day with one more personal record shattered in discus.

Next weekend the men and women will travel to Washington and Jefferson College to compete in the PAC Championships.
