Mike JeffreysBeaver Falls, PA - Mike Jeffreys needs to clear some more space for his 2013 awards. The junior pitcher/designated hitter has started to receive recognition for another outstanding campaign. While the junior from Moon High School managed to win just three games on the mound in 2013, a closer look at his numbers explains why he was named a first team All-PAC selection by the coach′s vote on Tuesday.

Even more impressive was the honors received through the NCCAA. Jeffreys was not only named the pitcher of the year for the NCCAA East Region, he was also named the player of the year for his work at the plate. Jeffreys was obviously a first-team All-region selection in addition to receiving the pitcher and player of the year honors. Teammates Garrett Swanson and Jeremy Herzog were each honorable mention selections to the NCCAA All-East region team.

Jeffreys finished the season with a 3-5 record on the mound with a 1.73 ERA. He allowed just 13 earned runs in 67.2 innings of work. Jeffreys struck out 106 batters while walking just nine. On the last day of the regular season, Jeffreys broke Geneva′s single season record for strikeouts, which stood at 99. At the plate, Jeffreys hit a team best .414 with a team leading 48 hits, three home runs and 23 runs batted in.
