Beaver Falls, PA - It didn′t take long on Saturday for Geneva′s Mike Jeffreys to enter the school′s record book. The junior hurler struck out his 100th batter of the season just two hitters into Saturday′s night cap to become the single season strikeout leader for the Golden Tornadoes. Jeffreys effort on the mound was wasted in a 3-1 loss in game two which followed a 5-3 loss in the first game of the day. Geneva finishes the 2013 campaign with an overall record of 14-22 including a 9-15 mark in the PAC.

Mike Jeffreys - strikeout 100Geneva was off and running to start game one with three runs in the bottom of the first. Jeffreys knocked in the first run with a base hit and Ryan McGonigle also came up with a run scoring single in the inning. The Saints chipped away at the lead with two runs in the third and then tied the game with a tally in the fourth. Thomas More scored the eventual game winner in the fifth inning. Geneva had nine hits in the loss including three off of the bat of Garrett Swanson. Caleb Kilgore went four innings and took the loss after allowing two earned runs on six hits.

Thomas More opened the scoring in game two with a pair of first inning runs. Geneva came right back with a run of its own on a Dan Jeffreys RBI base hit. Thomas More was able to scratch one more run across in the sixth for all of the scoring in the game. Mike Jeffreys took the loss and went seven innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits. He finished the day with seven strikeouts giving him a new single season record of 106 in 2013. Geneva had ten hits in game two including three from Mike Jeffreys himself and a pair from Andy Santana.
