Van ZanicBeaver Falls, PA - Van Zanic was hired as the full-time sports information director in 1998 at Geneva College. Five years later, he took over the women′s softball program and for the past 11 years has developed it into one of the best in the region. On Wednesday, Zanic begins his newest challenge as the school′s interim athletic director in replacing Dr. Kim Gall, who has held the position for the past five years.

After spending four years as the school′s sports information director, Zanic took over the softball head coaching reins and has never looked back. Securing his 300th victory near the end of the 2013 season, Zanic led the Golden Tornadoes to their first Presidents′ Athletic Conference title in 2012 and helped lead Geneva to a repeat appearance in the conference title game in 2013 as well as their fourth trip to the NCCAA national tournament.

Zanic graduated from Geneva College in 1992 with a degree in Broadcast Communication. A four-year starter on the Geneva baseball team, Zanic also played one year of football for the Golden Tornadoes under head coach Gene Sullivan. Following his graduation from Geneva, Zanic began his coaching career as a softball assistant at his high school alma mater Woodland Hills. After spending three years at the high school level, Zanic returned to Geneva College as the SID.

Dr. Gall spent 15 years at Geneva College from 1980-94 as a coach and administrator. Prior to her return to College Hill in 2008, Gall was serving as an assistant athletic director and professor at Calvin College. During her second stint at Geneva College, Gall helped the Golden Tornadoes navigate their way through its NCAA Division III provisional phase into full membership in Division III and the Presidents′ Athletic Conference.
