freshmanexpedition.jpgSome first-year students at Geneva will begin their college careers early with Freshman Expedition, an outdoor orientation experience from August 16-20, 2013. This trip, which takes place prior to Welcome Week orientation, is offered through Geneva College′s Pisgah Program.

Freshman Expedition is specifically designed to help incoming Geneva students′ transition into college life, establish healthy goals, develop relationships and grow in their relationship with the Lord. Although Freshman Expedition is not a required, Geneva strongly encourages participation in the program.

pisgah-logo.jpg"The trip lays a foundation for learning and cultivates thought and intentionality in all aspects of life that will help develop them in their transition from high school to college," said Becky Case, PISGAH Program Director.

Students taking part in Freshman Expedition will read Make College Count by Derek Melleby throughout trip, participating in various discussions about engaging learning throughout their college career.

Incoming freshman Natalie Auell ′17 said, "I signed up because I am interested in challenging myself mentally, physically and spiritually. I am looking forward to connecting with freshman on a personal level and the opportunity to come together in Christ with new friends."

Participating students will have the opportunity to experience various ropes course challenges, backcountry cooking, camping, group activities, new friendships, meaningful conversations and reflection times. All these activities are intentionally designed to encourage deeper personal, social, spiritual and academic development throughout the college experience.

"The biggest change I see in the students afterwards is the development of lasting friendships and increased confidence as they enter their freshman year," said Case.

Geneva College invites students to accept the challenge of an academically excellent, Christ-centered education. Offering nearly 40 undergraduate majors, an Adult Degree Completion Program with fully online and campus-based options, and seven graduate degrees, Geneva has programs that place students at the forefront of higher learning. Adhering to the inerrancy of scripture, the liberal arts core curriculum fosters a breadth of knowledge through the study of humanities, social and natural sciences, and experiential learning.
