nr_best_colleges.jpgThe 2014 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges recognizes Geneva College as a top 10 Best Value School out of all North Region colleges. In making this determination, U.S. News & World Report accounts for a school′s academic quality and the 2012-13 net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. Only schools in or near the top half of their ranking categories are included because U.S. News considers the most significant values to be among colleges that perform well academically.

For the second year in a row, Geneva′s engineering program was included in the top 100 Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs Rankings. And the college also placed 17 in the Top 20 Regional Colleges in the North geographical group.

This year, U.S. News & World Report made significant changes to its methodology, reducing the weight of factors that reflect a school's student body and increasing the weight of measures that signal how well a school educates its students.

For the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs Rankings, engineering programs are ranked according to a peer assessment survey. To be considered, the highest engineering degree offered by a school must be a bachelor's or master's degree, and the engineering program must be accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.

Regional Colleges are institutions that offer a wide selection of undergraduate degrees, as well as some master's degree programs. These schools focus on undergraduate education, but grant fewer than 50 percent of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines.

Since its inaugural edition in 1983, Best Colleges has been helping students and their parents make informed higher education decisions by providing news and advice about in-demand degree programs, finding more financial aid, how to be successful in college and other relevant topics.
