RosariaButterfield.jpgDr. Rosaria Butterfield, author of The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert, will visit Geneva College on Wednesday and Thursday, September 18-19. While here, she will speak in a number of venues, discussing biblical sexuality, as well as her own transformation from being a self-described homosexual, radical professor of English and women's studies to becoming a follower of Christ.

Butterfield′s journey to faith, which she commonly refers to as her "train-wreck conversion," began under the guidance and friendship of Rev. Ken G. Smith, former pastor of the Syracuse Reformed Presbyterian Church, and his wife Floy.

butterfield.png"I did not want to lose everything that I loved. But the voice of God sang a sanguine love song in the rubble of my world," Butterfield wrote in a February 2013 article for Christianity Today. "I weakly believed that if Jesus could conquer death, he could make right my world…. I rested in private peace, then community, and today in the shelter of a covenant family, where one calls me ‘wife′ and many call me ‘mother.′"

Butterfield is now married to Kent Butterfield, pastor of the First Reformed Presbyterian Church of Durham, NC, and resides there with her husband and four children. She continues to write and speak about hospitality, adoption and healing from sexual sin.
