Geneva College will host the first Geneva Reading Series event on Wednesday, September 25 at 7 p.m. in McCartney Library. This biannual series is designed to showcase the literary talent of Geneva students and members of the faculty.

The evening will feature seniors Alison Beattie, a communication major, and Deanna Briody, an English major, presenting selections of their original poetry. Also, Professor of Biblical Studies Dr. Byron Curtis and Professor of Philosophy Dr. Esther Meek will read portions of their literary work.

"With the inerrant and stylistically enchanting word of God standing as the central text of our lives, we inevitably learn a love of language," explains Professor of English Daniel Williams. "But celebrating beautiful language is only one of our event's many draws. I believe the diversity of fields represented here will be matched by the diversity of those who come to listen."

Musical entertainment at intermission will be provided by flautist Mikaela Stevens, a sophomore music education major.

The Geneva Reading Series is free and open to the public. Coffee and dessert will be served.

The next Geneva Reading Series event is planned for Wednesday, November 13.
