Beaver Falls, PA - Nobody enjoys waiting but sometimes what you get is worth waiting for. The Geneva Women′s Soccer team hosted the LaRoche Redhawks for their season home opener. What they didn′t know was that they were also hosting a lighting storm. Five minutes into the game lighting delayed play for over 90 minutes. In the end, the wait was worth the 2-1 win over LaRoche moving their overall record to 2-1.

Both teams were able to find offensive plays in the first half. Geneva′s Rhetta King was the first Golden Tornado to find the back of the net in the 26th minute. Six minutes later, Redhawk McKay Lindsey equalized the game off a pass from Rogers Alex. The second half Geneva possessed the ball enough to shut down any more shots from the Redhawks. During the second half, Kimberly Orihel collected the ball off Amanda Weaver and scored Geneva′s second goal, her third goal of the season.

The Golden Tornadoes will return to the field under the lights on Wednesday for home game against the Hiram College Terriers at 7 p.m.
