Geneva College′s liberal arts programs will be showcased during the Open House on Monday, November 11. In addition to the activities held for all prospective student visitors that day-including a campus tour, lunch with faculty and a financial aid seminar-liberal arts-focused events will be available for those intending to major in English, history, political science, sociology, communication, philosophy or music.

"The event is meant to highlight majors focused in some of the liberal arts subjects," explains Dr. Lynda Szabo, English Department chair and a main organizer of the event.

During the Open House, all students will attend a Humanities lecture, which is the part of Geneva′s core curriculum that explores history, the arts, sciences and philosophy through the lens of a Christian worldview, with Professor of English and Humanities Dr. Shirley Kilpatrick. And while all visitors will have the opportunity to meet with professors and current students, those interested in the liberal arts will meet separately with those in related majors so that they can explore these programs in greater depth.

"On the student panel thus far I have Judith Campbell, President of the English Club, and Deanna Briody, a writing major," Dr. Szabo adds.

Regarding the special component of this Open House, Campbell says, "I think that the liberal arts core is just that-the center of our school, and I'm excited to share its importance with prospective students."

Registration for the November 11 Open House is available here.

Prospective students may also schedule a campus visit for this or other days here, or by contacting the Admissions Office at 800-847-8255 or admissions@geneva.edu.

Geneva College invites students to accept the challenge of an academically excellent, Christ-centered education. Adhering to the inerrancy of Scripture, a Geneva education is grounded in God′s word as well as in a core curriculum designed to prepare students vocationally to think, write and communicate well in today′s world.
