Geneva had a light week with one game but made it count; pushing past Saint Vincent with a 3-1 win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Beaver Falls, PA- Seeing Saint Vincent score a goal within the first four minutes caught everyone off guard Wednesday night as most fans were still finding their seats. From that point on the game was all Geneva as it went on to score three goals against the Bearcats. The 3-1 victory lifts the Golden Tornadoes′ record to 3-3 in the PAC and 7-7-2 overall.

Saint Vincent′s Brody Ruffner wasted no time getting on the scoreboard when he slid a ball past Geneva goalkeeper Bryan Butler in the fourth minute of the game. The Golden Tornadoes turned on the gas and never let up as they controlled the field for the remainder of the match. Jeremey Troutman would be the first to score when he received a pass from Nate Musselman and shot the ball into the upper side netting in the 16th minute. Geneva got one more before the end of the first half from the foot of Sean Bernardi. Bernardi was in the right place at the right time when Bearcat goalkeeper Eric Houghton deflected a shot back into the box where Bernardi was waiting to finish it off.

Bernardi would strike again in the 55th minute when teammates Garrett Masters and Jesse Herman passed the ball around Saint Vincent′s defense making way for the third and final goal of the night. The Golden Tornadoes had several other goal scoring opportunities forcing Houghton to make 14 saves. Butler collected two saves and registered the win. "Overall it was an excellent team effort and it was really good to see us score three quality goals against a good opponent," remarks Head Coach Gary Dunda.

This win kept the Golden Tornadoes′ postseason hopes alive for now but the next week and a half will determine if their hard work has paid off. Geneva will have the weekend to rest before traveling to Waynesburg Wednesday for an 8:30 p.m. game.
