Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s lone goal was not enough to defeat the Washington and Jefferson (W&J) Presidents in today′s women′s soccer game. Geneva hosted W&J for their third Presidents′ Athletic Conference (PAC) game this season. Even though the Golden Tornadoes were the first to score, W&J defeated Geneva 2-1. The loss gives Geneva an overall record of 4-8, 1-2 in the PAC.
The first half remained scoreless after the President′s took ten shots and the GT′s took five. Sixty-three minutes into the game, Geneva was awarded a free kick at the top of the W&J arch. Heidi Mann placed the free kick in the top right corner of the net for her fourth goal of the season. A couple minutes later, W&J earned a free kick just outside the Geneva box. Washington and Jefferson, Jess Skovira connected with Holly Shipley for a 1-1 tie game. W&J claimed the win with their second goal in the 81st minute off a Shipley cross, Dani Span finish.
Geneva will travel to Grove City on Tuesday to face the Wolverines at 7 p.m.
