Runners met with tough competition at the Inter-Regional Rumble at Oberlin on Saturday.

Oberlin, OH- The Geneva women′s cross country team competed for the first time Saturday at the Inter-Regional Rumble since September 28th. The Geneva women finished 26th out of 34 teams while the Geneva men finished in last place out of the 31 men′s teams racing.

In women′s action senior Alayna Merkle was the top finisher for Geneva completing the race in 22:21 which put her in 17th place out of 284 runners. The next Golden Tornado to cross the finish line was Rebecca Miller who finished in 25:20.

The men′s team faced top competition and struggled as not one runner finished in the top 150 runners. Jacob Beschner crossed the line first for Geneva in 28:28 for the 8K which put him in 191st place out of 283 runners.

Geneva has another long break until the women and men compete in the PAC Championships on November 2nd at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. respectively at Chatham University.
