philippines-typhoon-haiyan.jpgAs Americans are watching televisions and looking at images of the horrendous typhoon damage in the Philippines, the members of The Genevans, the official choir of Geneva College, are especially impacted by those scenes. For more than a year already, they have been raising money to take their music ministry to the Philippines in May of 2014. And they are currently planning their next fundraiser to for the Philippines music ministry trip: a Banquet and Auction in Alexander Hall of Geneva College on Saturday, November 16.

With concern for the thousands of people in the Philippines who have been hurt or displaced, those who have lost family and loved ones, who need food, supplies or medical care, and are living in, as Philippine President Benigno Aquino has called the country, "a state of national calamity," The Genevans are gathering forces to help the beleaguered people. They are collecting donations for the Philippines Typhoon Aid, to be given through the Samaritan's Purse International Relief agency.

The Genevans will be collecting money for the Philippines Typhoon Aid after Chapel, inside Alex's during meal times, and the Music Department during normal operating hours. Checks will also be received at the College Business Office. Donations may be in the form of cash or checks made out to "Samaritan′s Purse," with a memo "Typhoon Relief." Checks made out to Geneva College cannot be accepted.

Members of the choir are asking the Geneva community to show God′s love by donating generously to the Philippine people whose needs are so great right now. Donations will be accepted immediately, through Monday, November 25. Any questions may be directed to the Music Department at 724-847-6660.
