Geneva Volleyball extended its′ win streak to eight this week standing victorious over Chatham 3-0 and Bethany 3-1. Saturday the team handed Bethany its only conference loss.

Beaver Falls, PA - The Geneva women′s volleyball team came into the regular season finale to host Bethany who was undefeated in the PAC, until Saturday night. It took four sets but Geneva stood firm and captured a 3-1 victory over the Bethany Bison handing them their only conference loss. The Golden Tornadoes have won eight straight matches with their final win lifting their PAC record to an incredible 16-2 and overall record of 22-9.

Geneva started strong taking set one 25-23 but Bethany tied it up in the second set 26-24. The Golden Tornadoes were not shaken by the loss and went on to win sets three and four by an identical tally of 25-21. As the scores show, the Bison made Geneva work through every set with the largest win margin being just four points.

The hard fought victory over the Bethany Bison could not have been accomplished without a tremendous team effort. Rachel Netherland, Olivia Test and Ashley Davis all recorded double digit kills; 15, 13, and 10 respectively. Netherland and Erin Smith led the way protecting the net with six blocks each while Test collected four and Davis two. Brie Dickson grabbed a team high 27 digs in the defensive stand with help from Davis who contributed 15. Deanna Briody supplied 42 assist as she continues to smash the career assist record. Last but not least, Briody and Dickson added three aces a piece in the offensive charge.

Geneva and Bethany receive a first round bye and will begin play Friday night in the semi-finals at 6 p.m. Geneva will play the winner of Tuesday′s Thomas More/Grove City quarter-final match in the first semi-final on Friday at a time to be announced.
