the Golden Tornadoes struggled at the Doubletree Tournament at CMU this past weekend. The team dropped losses to CMU and Oberlin despite compiling over 60 points per game.

SMB_2140_W480.jpgPittsburgh, PA- The Geneva Women′s Basketball team suffered another tough defeat in their second game of the Carnegie Mellon Tournament against Oberlin College on Saturday. Geneva was able to keep the game close into the second half of play, but the balanced scoring attack of the Yeomen eventually got the better of the Golden Tornadoes as they fell 92-63, dropping their overall record to 0-2.

Samantha Fisher and Nicole Highland led Geneva with 16 points each in the contest but no other Tornadoes were able to reach double figures. Twins Marissa and Miranda Heaney both scored nine points for Geneva while Becca Sargent contributed seven rebounds in the losing effort. The entire Oberlin starting lineup scored in double figures highlighted by Lindsey Bernhardt′s 19 points.

The Golden Tornadoes shot a solid 45 percent on the evening but were crippled by 22 turnovers as well as shooting only 60 percent (9-15) from the free throw stripe. In addition, Geneva shot an impressive 4-7 from beyond the arc in the contest.

Geneva will travel to Wooster College on November 20th to battle the Fighting Scots at 7:30pm.
