Geneva's Heidi Mann was nominated into the 2014 Allstate WBCA and NABC Good Works Teams.

Mann13.jpgBeaver Falls, PA- The Women′s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and Allstate Insurance Company recently nominated 118 men′s and 84 women′s basketball student-athletes from all college divisions including Heidi Mann from Geneva College to the 2014 Allstate WBCA and NABC Good Works Teams. These student-athletes embody the true spirit of teamwork and giving back in their respective communities. The Allstate WBCA and NABC Good Works Teams help tell the stories of good that happens off the court that often goes unnoticed.

While excelling on the hardwood, Mann has demonstrated extraordinary care and devotion to volunteerism and leadership off the court. A math education major at Geneva, Mann gives back to the local Beaver Falls community by offering math tutoring to Beaver Falls High School students on a weekly basis. She also exemplifies quality leadership principles as the sophomore class president at Geneva College. Not to be confined to the state of Pennsylvania, Mann also serves as the president of the mid-west presbytery youth group for the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America (RPCNA) where some of her responsibilities include organizing youth retreats for the entire mid-west region of the RPCNA.

From the 84 female student-athletes nominated, 10 student-athletes will be selected as part of the Allstate WBCA Good Works Team by a special voting panel headlined by WNBA star Tamika Catchings. If selected, Mann will be invited to attend the 2014 WBCA Convention and 2014 NCAA Women′s Final Four in Nashville.

Interim Athletic Director Van Zanic commented on Mann′s nomination, "Heidi exemplifies the true meaning of a student-athlete. As talented of an athlete that she has proven to be, she has proven to be equally as effective as a leader on campus. We take great pride in our student-athletes to be ambassadors of Geneva College and Heidi has been at the forefront of those efforts. This is truly a well deserved honor and one that Heidi and Geneva can be very proud of."
