Mark_Rodgers.jpgMark Rodgers, Principal of culture-renewal organization The Clapham Group, will speak at Geneva College on the topics of the national reform of William Wilberforce and how popular culture can communicate biblical principles. Presentations will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 23 and at 10:10 a.m. on Friday, January 24. Both will be in John White Chapel, located in Geneva′s Old Main building.

The title of Rodgers′ Thursday lecture is "Amazing Grace: How William Wilberforce and Hannah More Reformed the Manners of the Nations." Friday′s is "U2 and Mr. Rodgers: Communicating Biblical Principles through Popular Culture."

amazing-grace-poster1.jpgIn conjunction with Rodgers′ visit, a showing of the 2006 movie Amazing Grace will take place at 7:30 p.m. in John White Chapel. The film, which is being presented by Geneva′s Center for Faith and Practice, stars Ioan Gruffudd and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Mark Rodgers has served as the third-ranking Republican leadership staffer in the U.S. Senate and as a chief of staff to Senator Rick Santorum. A speaker and published writer, he is a social entrepreneur and has worked with celebrities including Bono, Patty Heaton and The Fray.

Named for a small, eighteenth century community committed to ending the slave trade and reforming society, The Clapham Group represents and consults clients working to address modern-day injustices. The organization provides social marketing, public relations, and political and policy consulting.

The lectures and film showing are free and open to the public.
