Bethany, WV - A late Bethany run in the first half gave the Bison a comfortable lead going into the half and a second half run sealed the deal as Bethany handed Geneva its 11th straight loss, 79-56.
"They got ahead early but we fought back until a 7-0 run at the five-minute mark of the first half gave them a comfortable first half lead," said Geneva coach Jeff Santarsiero. "Then a 10-0 run in the second half put it away.
"We played well most of the first half but Bethany stepped up the intensity in the second half and we didn′t match it."
Geneva falls to 4-15 and 0-10 in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference while Bethany improves to 15-4 and 8-2.
Geneva was led by senior Jordan Harbison (Portersville Christian School) with 15 points. Junior Tyler Damazo (Blackhawk) added nine points and led the Golden Tornadoes with five rebounds.
Geneva gets a weekend off before returning to play next Wednesday against Thomas More.
"We need a break and it′s good to be getting one," said Santarsiero. "We′re calling it our second season and we′ll be ready for the last six games."
