Crestview Hills, KY- Geneva basketball has now lost six games by ten points or less. The Thomas More Saints had to work for the ‘W′ but none-the-less added it to their record with a 71-65 final. The Golden Tornadoes take their fifth consecutive loss for a 4-9 overall record, 0-4 in conference play.
The first half consisted of five ties including the half-time score of 32-32. Within the first 20 minutes, Geneva found 12 baskets from the field, three beyond the arch (two by Zac Rorick and one by Jordan Baum). The GT′s also took advantage of five of the eight times at the stripe. The Thomas More Saints dominated the inside game with ten points from the field, eleven from the stripe and only one three-pointer.
The battle continued back and forth into the second half. At the 11:12 minute mark, Matt Naylor tied up the game at 49-49 for the ninth tie by taking the Saints defense off guard with a three-pointer. In the end, the Saints three-point game would give them the slight tilt needed for the run to the ‘W′. Thomas More Saint, Jalen Clark, found the basket from downtown for a 58-55 score, breaking the 12th and last tie of the game with 4:10 left on the clock.
Jordan Harbison tallied up 14 points for the GT′s. Harbison would be the only GT to find double digits with Naylor and Rorick with nine points each. Tyler Damazo continued to dominate the rebounding game with seven rebounds followed by Naylor with four.
Saturday Geneva visits long-time rival Grove City Wolverines for a 3 p.m. tip-off. Geneva returns to home court just in time for campus to return from Christmas break. Geneva basketball will welcome back campus by hosting the St. Vincent Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
