1_18_14-98.jpgBeaver Falls, PA- The Golden Tornadoes face their last conference rival during the first round of conference competition in 2013-14 hosting the Washington & Jefferson Presidents. Geneva and W&J split the previous 2012-13 season with a GT 64-59 win at home last February. The teams step onto the court for the 73rd time tonight with Geneva ahead in the series against W&J 40-33.

Under the direction of Head coach Glenn Gutierrez (8th year) the Presidents look to turn their .500 season into a winning season while visiting the Golden Tornadoes. Upset at home last Saturday by Bethany, W&J′s attack will be anything but mellow. Leading the attack for the Presidents is forward Nate Bellhy averaging the large portion of 18.4 points a game. Bellhy′s dynamic athleticism at 6′6 has also allowed him to grab 9.4 rebounds a game. Sophomore Tyler Haas broke out this year as a playmaker with 63 assists so far this season. Finally, the Presidents have become a threat in how they protect the basketball. W&J has a +0.5 edge in turnover margin over opponents compared to the Golden Tornadoes team -3.4 turnover margin.

W&J is not the only team on the court tonight with motivation to win. Geneva has become victim to dropping close games, seven to be exact. Saturday night captured the heartbreaking season in a buzzer loss after taking all-time rival Westminster to overtime. The GT has nothing to lose as they step onto home court desperate to avenge the seven tight previous games dropped. Trevor York looks to repeat the outstanding game he performed Saturday. York led the GT scoring and rebound game with17 points and nine rebounds. Freshman starting point guard, Chase Vaudrin will have the opportunity to show the experienced Presidents a thing or two about his impact as a first year Golden Tornado. Vaudrin has compiled 57 assists and has added up a scoring average of 11.6 points a game. Tyler Damazo′s brings an edge to the rebounding at 7.6 rebounds a game for the GTs.

Geneva will return to the road after a series of home games visiting Thiel College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
