Beaver Falls, PA- The Golden Tornadoes rallied the St. Vincent Bearcats but could not clinch the win at home in a 74-55 loss on Wednesday night. The loss hands Geneva an overall record of 1-12, 0-7 in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference (PAC).
The St. Vincent Bearcats, sitting number two in the PAC and yet to have given up a conference loss this season, were given a surprise when a determined underdog team met them on the court. Geneva rallied the Bearcats well into the first half until the Bearcats tipped the iceberg with nine straight points for a 29-17 lead with three minutes remaining in the half. Despite the genuine hard work the GT′s displayed, the Bearcats finished the game shooting 49% from the field and 37% beyond the arch, a large leap ahead from the GT′s 33% from the field and 30% in the three-point game.
Freshman Nicole Hyland and Marissa Heaney finished with 12 points each supported by Heidi Mann who contributed 10 points. Samantha Fisher, Mann and Hyland all earned seven rebounds in the efforts.
The Golden Tornadoes turn its gaze onto Saturday night when they host all-time rival Westminster during Geneva′s "Pack the Gym Night" with tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
