GREENVILLE, PA - Geneva trailed 33-21 at halftime and couldn′t cut the deficit in the second half as Thiel improved to 4-13 and 3-7 in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference. The Golden Tornadoes (1-15, 0-10) made just seven of 34 field goal attempts in the first half and, though, the shooting improved in the second half, it wasn′t enough.
"We did not shoot well in the first half," said Geneva coach Lori Wynn. "I can′t explain it, we were missing point blank shots.
"We got better in the second half but couldn′t catch up."
Geneva was led by senior Lydia Steele (Ford City) with 10 points and freshman Nicole Hyland (Penn-Trafford) fell a basket short of her third straight double-double. She had eight points and 11 rebounds.
Geneva next plays Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Bethany.
