Organized by the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) program, the 2014 Geneva College/MSOL Serving Leader Conference will be held on Thursday, April 10 from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., at Cranberry Township′s Pittsburgh Marriott North.
Registration, which includes continental breakfast, lunch and conference materials, is $99 for MSOL students and alumni. Registration for all others is $109.
This full-day, experiential workshop, "Boundaries for Leaders: Results, Relationships, and Being Ridiculously in Charge," will feature a keynote speech from Dr. James K. Dittmar followed by a lecture on integrity from Dr. Henry Cloud.
The conference further includes a panel interview with Dr. Cloud, results-oriented activities, lectures and more.
A best-selling author and acclaimed leadership expert, Dr. Cloud completed his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Biola University and his clinical internship at Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. He has written or co-written over 20 books, including the bestseller Boundaries, which has sold over two million copies. In his leadership consulting practice, Dr. Cloud works with both Fortune 500 companies and small businesses, using his extensive executive coaching background and experience as an organizational consultant.
The workshop provides participants with the knowledge to: develop an understanding of the relationship among character, integrity and successful leadership; build a culture that cultivates "right" thinking in the workplace; and create high performing teams based on behaviors that drive results. Participants will be able to lead themselves in a manner that fulfills their vision, knowing when to have realistic hope and when to execute a necessary ending.
Also, the 2014 Serving Leader Award will be presented during the event. The recipient, nominated and chosen by representatives of Geneva′s Department of Leadership studies, is a person of faith who is living out servant leader qualities in life and in work.
The Geneva College/MSOL Serving Leader Conference series began in 1995. The keynote speaker at its first leadership conference was Max DuPree, author of Leadership Jazz and Leadership is an Art. Since then, noted leadership authors and practitioners such as Frances Hesselbein, Ken and Margie Blanchard, Dan Cathy, Mark Miller, and Dennis and Michelle Reina have served in this capacity. At each conference, 500 attendees benefit from the insights they receive regarding the application of servant leadership principles in the workplace and all areas of life.
The stated purpose of the MSOL program is to equip individuals and organizations in serving leadership by attracting nationally renowned speakers who will challenge and inspire, by offering a workshop component to provide take-home applications, and by connecting participants to local resources and relationships for ongoing growth and development.
