Geneva College′s student choir, The Genevans, will perform on Friday and Saturday, March 28- 29, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in Old Main′s John White Chapel. The program is "Psalms for the King."
The concert features a variety of sacred pieces by classical masters such as Mendelssohn and Bach, as well as compositions by 12 living composers and arrangers, and pieces commissioned for the choir. Arrangements of a Michael Tabon psalm setting and compositions by Diane Whitacre, former director of the choir Dr. Robert Copeland, and Geneva College Old Testament scholar and musician Dr. Byron G. Curtis will be performed.
"The Genevans always look forward to their last chance to sing for the home crowd during spring concerts on campus. Not only are these last concerts special for the seniors, but now the whole choir can share with the college community what we've been working on so hard this semester," said Director Dr. David Smith. "We're also glad to showcase the program that we're taking on our international tour 45 days from now to the Philippines and Malaysia."
There is no admission charge; however, a free-will offering will be taken to support the group′s May international tour.
