Crestview Hills, KY- The weather wasn′t as nice as Florida′s but the surroundings were definitely more accommodating for the Geneva baseball team as the Golden Tornadoes opened Presidents′ Athletic Conference action with an 8-7 win at Thomas More.

The Golden Tornadoes broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning with an RBI single by Dan Jeffreys (Moon) and extended the lead to 8-4 by the bottom of the ninth. Thomas More, however, batted around in the bottom of the ninth, scoring three and left the winning run in scoring position before Tanner Probst (Cumberland Valley Christian, PA) recorded the final out for the save as Geneva improved to 2-9 overall.

Tyler Damazo (Blackhawk) had a two-run home run to lead Geneva′s 10- hit attack. Donnie Tong (Tree of Life Christian, OH) and Ryan McGonigle (Apollo-Ridge) each had two hits in the game while Shane Wingard (Apollo-Ridge), Jake Debo (New Brighton) and McGonigle each had doubles.

Zack Ackerman (Worthington Christian, OH) went the first eight innings to record the win. The Golden Tornadoes return to action tomorrow at Thomas More.
