Witman′s second game home run is Geneva baseball′s offense, Golden Tornadoes lose two to Thomas More

Crestview Hills, KY- Aaron Witman (Shalom Christian Academy) hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning of the nightcap of a doubleheader at Thomas More that tied the game at the time, but Geneva′s offense couldn′t push any more runs across. Geneva lost both games, 7-0 and 4-2, to fall to 2-11, 1-2 in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference.

"It′s tough, Friday we had 10 hits," Geneva coach Alan Sumner said. "We saw some really good pitching today but we were in both games.

"We had our chances and saw a lot of positives in the weekend. This isn′t an easy place to play - we′ve lost by 30 here in the past - and we were able to get our first conference win. It gives us a chance to get some confidence and build on the positives."

Witman sent a two-ball, two-strike pitch over the centerfield wall with no outs in the fifth, scoring Jake Debo (New Brighton) before him but Thomas More broke the tie in the bottom of the inning and never gave up the lead.

In the opener, Garrett Swanson (Blackhawk) had a pair of singles but the Golden Tornadoes could muster little other offense in a 7-0 loss.

The Golden Tornadoes return to action Friday at Westminster, weather permitting.
