Guiser leads Geneva against Grove City

Grove City, PA- Junior Josh Guiser (Fayette City, PA) captured first place finishes in the 100 and 200 meters and as part of the 400 relay team in a meet against Grove City Saturday and senior Alayna Merkle (Chambersburg, PA) won the 800 meters but, beyond that, it was a field day for the Golden Tornadoes.

The Geneva men won five of the field events and the women two as the Golden Tornadoes fared much better there. For the men, freshman Isaac Barringer (Delta, OH) won the discus, sophomore Colin Craig (Covington, PA) the triple jump, freshman Bill Oplinger (New Kensington, PA) the long jump, junior Jordan Rupert (Greenville, PA) the javelin, and Michael Slofka the pole vault. For the women, freshman Sarah Foy (Rockwood, PA) won the shot put and senior Mary Keen (Mount Gilead, OH) won the discus.

Setting personal records in winning at the meet were Craig and Barringer.

The teams return to action Saturday at Slippery Rock starting at noon.
