Geneva′s second annual "Stand for Freedom" will take place on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. The 24-hour event, hosted by Students Against Modern Slavery (SAMS), will begin at 11 a.m. on April 9 and continue until 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 10.

Sign-ups are available in the Center for Faith and Practice office, and students are encouraged to participate.

"We are raising awareness and standing in solidarity with the 30 million people who are currently enslaved around the world," states Colleen Champ, the event coordinator and president of SAMS. She will be standing at the event.

The Stand for Freedom event is created by, and serves to raise money for, International Justice Mission, a US-based nonprofit human rights organization, rescues victims of human rights abuse in many countries throughout the world.

"IJM works tirelessly to free those in bondage-sometimes for years to free a single individual-and bathes their work in prayer," Champ adds. "They seek to get Christian care and counseling for individuals rescued from sex trafficking."
