DSC0596.jpgLatrobe, PA- A day after winning three games, Geneva traveled to St. Vincent and saw a change as the Golden Tornadoes dropped a pair of games, 16-8 and 8-2. Geneva is now 6-14 and 2-5 in Presidents′ Athletic Conference play.

In the first game, Geneva outhit the Bearcats 13-11 but six errors cost the Golden Tornadoes as they allowed runs on every inning and led just once, 6-5 in the third inning. Unfortunately, St. Vincent answered with three runs in the bottom of the third and Geneva never regained the lead.

Tyler Damazo (Blackhawk), Donnie Tong (Tree of Life Christian, OH), and Anthony Monteparte (Latrobe) each had two hits for Geneva while Jonathon Griebel (Whetstone, OH) had three runs batted an Monteparte and Tong two each. Caleb Metzler (Warwick, PA) took the loss.

In the second game, Geneva had a 2-1 lead after three and a half innings and the Golden Tornadoes retired the first two batters but St. Vincent′s next six batters scored to take control of the game. Griebel had another RBI in the nightcap and Drew Nichols (Wilmington, PA) took the loss.

"We just made too many defensive mistakes with two outs in the second game," said Geneva coach Alan Sumner. "We′ll just have to regroup for tomorrow against Westminster."

The Golden Tornadoes return to play Wednesday at Westminster.
