Beaver Falls, PA- Four different Geneva men finished first in four different field events as the Golden Tornadoes hosted the PAC-North Quad meet. Junior Jordan Rupert (Greenville, PA) won the javelin, sophomore Colin Craig (Covington, PA) won the triple jump, and freshmen Bill Oplinger (New Kensington, PA) and Isaac Barringer (Delta, OH) won the long jump and discus, respectively. Geneva′s other men′s winners were freshman Cameron Unrath (Wexford) in the 100 meters and the 400 relay team of Unrath, Ryan White (New Brighton), Josh Guiser (Fayette City, PA), and Jacob Mellinger (Crestview, OH).
Senior Alayna Merkle (Chambersburg, PA) led the women′s efforts, winning the 800 and 5000 meters. Also finishing first for the Geneva women were junior Anna Kluitenberg (Pittsburgh, PA) in the 3000 meter steeplechase (PAC Quad North Meet record), senior Mary Keen (Mt. Gilead, OH) in the discus, junior Sara Williams (Wellsboro, PA) in the shot put, and the 400 relay team of Kimberly Orihel (Clinton, OH), Caroline Wright (Earlville, NY), Lydia Steele (Vandergrift, PA), and Jamie Mahan (Saxonburg, PA).
Grove City won both the men and women meet. Both teams will continue their season next Friday at the PAC Outdoor championships.
