Jordan Rupert wins NCCAA Javelin Title

track096.jpgROME, GA - Junior Jordan Rupert (Greenville, PA) finished first in the javelin at the National Christian College Athletic Association Championships, held in Rome, GA. Thanks primarily to Rupert′s efforts, the Golden Tornadoes men finished 15th at the NCCAAs while the women finished 20th.

Other Geneva athletes finishing in the top 15 were freshman Rebekah Rupert (Greenville, PA), finishing 6th in the heptathlon and 14th in the javelin; sophomore Dalton Paxson (Rochester, PA) finishing 7th in the 110 hurdles, sophomore Jacob Mellinger (Crestview, OH) finished 7th in the 400, senior Matt Logan (ELCO, PA) finished 8th in the shot put and 15th in the discus, senior Alayna Merkle (Chambersburg, PA) finished 11th in the 1500 meters, junior Sara Williams (Wellsboro, PA) finished 12th in the shot put, and freshman Rebecca Miller (Spring Grove, PA) finished 13th in the 10000 meters.

Meanwhile, the Geneva athletes that didn′t go to the NCCAA Championships participated at the Grove City Mini-Invitational and were led by Bill Oplinger (Kiski Area) with a second place finish in the long jump.
