Beaver Falls, PA– Geneva College followed the hiring of Van Zanic as Athletic Director by dropping the interim tag on year-long full time interim Sports Information Director, Christy Lear.

Lear comes from an indirect route compared to the traditional path of many Directors of Sports Information that compliments growing needs of public relations in NCAA Division III athletics.

A Geneva College 2011 graduate, she enters into the Sports Information Director chair with a Bachelors of Arts in Graphic Design and Missions. A trio of design experiences laid out the indirect route to the Geneva College Sports Information office. Lear studied Graphic Design at Geneva through the Affiliate Program established with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. This opened the door for an internship at Marketing 360 located in Nottingham, England and was followed by a year-long internship in the Geneva Public Relations office her senior year.

“I am blessed that I have overwhelming support as a young adult entering a field with many responsibilities. I look forward to contributing to the mission of Geneva College with my skill sets as Director of Sports Information.”

Geneva College invites students to accept the challenge of an academically excellent, Christ-centered education. Offering nearly 40 undergraduate majors, Adult Degree Programs with fully online and campus-based options, and seven graduate degrees, Geneva has programs that place students at the forefront of higher learning. Adhering to the inerrancy of Scripture, a Geneva education is grounded in God’s word as well as in a core curriculum designed to prepare students vocationally to think, write and communicate well in today’s world.
