Geneva Tennis Defines Season Opener in 9-0 Win over Bethany

gc-tennis-9-12-061.jpgBeaver Falls, PA- The Geneva Women′s Tennis team had the honors of opening up the fall 2014 season for the Golden Tornadoes this afternoon at Brady′s Run Park hosting the Bethany Bison. The Tennis team did not let the honor go by without securing the ‘W′ for the GTs, earning a 9-0 win over the Bison.

Elizabeth Stewart (Rochester, PA/Rochester) and Samantha Jensen (Muskegon, MI/Mona Shores) lead the number one doubles slot with a 8-2 finish. Sara Stroll (Norwalk, OH/Norwalk) and Megan Hinds (Montrose, PA/Montrose) followed suit with an 8-1 win and finally Jennifer Bullock (Wrentham, MA/King Philip Regional) and Samantha Maietta (Ellwood City, PA/Riverside) sealed the sweep in a 8-1 final decision.

Stewart (6-1, 6-4), Stoll (6-0, 6-0), Jensen (6-1, 6-0), Hinds (6-2, 6-3), Bullock (6-0, 6-1), and Hilary Kinney (Limington, ME/Bonny Eagle) all defeated their opponents in the singles competitions.

Head Coach Mandee Craft commented, "This was a fantastic way to kick off our season. Even with all new doubles teams and people playing new positions, we looked very strong today."

Geneva Tennis travel to Penn State Altoona Saturday August 30th to face Penn State Altoona and Clarion at 10 a.m.
