Geneva takes two; Hughes follows up Netherland′s title as PAC volleyball player of week

Beaver Falls, PA- Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) followed up teammate, Rachel Netherland′s (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) Presidents′ Athletic Conference (PAC) player of the week selection the week of September 22, 2014 with her own outstanding work over two top 20 nationally ranked schools (Mt. Union and DePauw) allowing Geneva to be represented in the conference selection in back-to-back weeks as the league announced her selection as the PAC volleyball player of the week for September 29, 2014.

The freshman outside hitter dominated the attacking game this week against two top 20 nationally ranked NCAA Division III teams (Mt. Union and DePauw). Hughes put down 54 kills against the top contenders in 153 swings. Her tremendous efforts allowed her to lead Geneva's offense against Mt. Union with 11 kills, 18 kills against Defiance, and 25 kills against DePauw University; helping Geneva to victory in the five set match. In addition, she also grabbed 14 digs (1.08 digs/set).
