Volleyball defeats Franciscan at home in four

gc-vball-9-14-016.jpgBeaver Falls, PA- Volleyball defeated Franciscan at home in four (23-25, 25-13, 25-20, 25-23) for its eighth win of the season (8-5).

"It was good to be challenged. We didn′t know what to expect from Franciscan. We were more error prone than usual so we will have to work on our consistency. Fortunately, we had key players step up in the fourth set to give us the match" said co-head coach Curt Conser.

Sophomore Olivia Test (Negley, OH/Heartland Christian) and freshman outside hitter Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) led the Golden Tornadoes offense, Test finished with 14 total kills, Hughes hit 13 kills in the four sets.

Geneva finished with six team blocks and 91 total digs between Alexis Ritson (Irwin, PA/Hempfield) with 19, Gabrielle Dickson (Brookfield, OH/Kennedy Catholic ) with 15 and Rachel Netherland (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) (14), and Marissa Naples (Cortland, OH/Lakeview ) with 14 each.

Geneva travels to Waynesburg, PA on Saturday September 20th for a tri-match against Waynesburg (11 a.m.) and Grove City (1 p.m.).
