Geneva host nationally ranked Mt. Union; Geneva falls 3-1

Beaver Falls, PA- Geneva volleyball hosted the fifth nationally ranked Mt. Union Raiders on Wednesday. Geneva fell 3-1 to Mt. Union in four sets; 17-25, 17-25, 26-24, 19-25). The loss brings Geneva′s overall record to 10-6, 5-1 in the Presidents′ Athletic Conference.

"Mt. Union does some things really well and they did those things really well tonight. The things they don′t do well we just didn′t take advantage of" commented co-head coach Curt Conser.

Erin Smith (Sewickley, PA/Ambridge) and Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) lead Geneva′s offense with 11 kills each. On defense, Gabrielle Dickson (Brookfield, OH/Kennedy Catholic) and Alexis Ritson (Irwin, PA/Hempfield) both gathered eight digs.

Saturday Geneva travels to Mt. Union to play Defiance at 2 p.m. and DePauw University at 4:30 p.m.
