Beaver Falls, PA- Geneva women′s soccer found its first win of the season at home against Pittsburgh Greensburg campus. The 2-1 final decision lifts the Golden Tornadoes overall record to 1-1.
"It was good to get the first win of the season and even nicer when it is a team effort" said Head Coach Linda Sumner.
Sophomore Sarah Foy (Rockwood, PA/Rockwood) scored her first goal of the season in the 11th minute from the foot of junior midfielder Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy). Pittsburgh Greensburg equalized the game in the 16th minute off the foot of Courtney Carrol (Irwin, PA/Hempfield). Freshman Golden Tornado, Laiton Suders (Chambersburg, PA/Cumberland Valley Christian) answered with the game winning goal in the 32nd minute of play.
The Golden Tornadoes are back in action Saturday September 3rd hosting Mt. Vernon at 3 p.m.
